Loh Hoon Sun

Throughout his distinguished and diverse career, Loh Hoon Sun has always focused on people and relationships. He has held several senior leadership positions across various industries including auditing, plantation, mining, timber, oil, banking and finance. Prior to serving as Managing Director (now Senior Advisor) at stockbroking firm Phillip Securities, he was Executive Vice-President and Head of OUB Treasury and Investment banking at Overseas Union Bank. He also holds several senior board and advisory roles.

Having started in the business world long before emails and smartphones were part of every workplace, Loh Hoon Sun is well placed to comment on the essence of leadership, free from technological interference. He cites presence, vision and influence as key qualities every leader should possess. “While technology is an enormous benefit to connectivity and productivity, there is a need to balance human interaction with technology and data”, he says.

Being an accomplished and trusted leader, Loh Hoon Sun has well developed skills in influencing and the ability to collaborate with diverse groups to implement ideas. He is a firm believer in the idea that leadership is gained and not given. And that you motivate others by example; doing it yourself to show them. His biggest challenge to date has been steering people with different views and objectives to work together as a team with a targeted purpose. Loh Hoon Sun’s future leadership goals are to continue to build his leadership brand, passing on his wealth of knowledge to others.
